Knowing Your Words
Finding Your Voice
For over 20 years, I have helped professionals develop the English they need to navigate boardrooms, lead negotiations, and make themselves heard in international business. My clients have included professionals at companies such as Chanel, Sanofi, and Hermès.I began by teaching the architecture of language: grammar, word order, verb tenses, and the logic that allows us to put our thoughts into words. I believed in this work then, and I still do. A strong foundation matters. But over the years, I began to notice a gap between what my clients knew and what they felt able to express. They understood the grammar. They knew the vocabulary. They often knew exactly what they wanted to say. Yet, when the moment arrived, the words they had learned seemed to stay parked in their minds and wouldn't make it to their lips.More practice was not always the answer.I began to see that speaking another language involves more than acquiring knowledge and constructing sentences correctly. It asks us to trust what we know, tolerate the discomfort of getting things wrong, and allow ourselves to be heard before we feel entirely ready.Over time, my work evolved to address this often-overlooked space between knowing the language and feeling confident enough to use it.Sometimes, the question is not whether you know enough English.Knowing the words and feeling able to use them are two different things. Both matter.
When English Meets Real Life
You may understand more English than you feel able to use.You can follow a meeting, prepare your thoughts, and know the words you need. But when the conversation moves quickly, someone challenges your idea, or the stakes rise, expressing yourself can suddenly feel harder than it should.Perhaps you hesitate over a sentence you know how to construct. Perhaps you rehearse what you want to say, only to find the conversation has moved on. Or perhaps you say less than you intended, not because you have nothing to contribute, but because finding the words takes too much effort in the moment. These experiences are not always a sign that your English isn't good enough. Sometimes, they reveal a gap between what you know and what you can readily access when it matters. This is where we work.We strengthen the language itself while working on your ability to use it under pressure. That means developing the grammar and vocabulary you need, learning to express your thoughts more readily, and becoming more comfortable speaking even when you cannot find the perfect words. The goal is not to speak flawlessly. It is to communicate what you mean, contribute your ideas, and take your place in the conversation.
How we work together
Building your English. Finding your voice. Using both when it matters.
Our work begins with you: your professional world, the situations you face, and the conversations in which you want to feel more at ease.We work on the English you need, strengthening grammar, developing vocabulary, and finding clearer ways to express your ideas. Then we bring that language into the situations where you need it most.Through realistic role-play, we practise the conversations that matter in your working life: contributing to meetings, presenting ideas, handling challenging questions, and navigating negotiations. You have the opportunity to try different ways of expressing yourself, make mistakes, and discover what works for you.One-to-one coaching gives us space to look more closely at what happens when you speak. We explore what holds you back, identify where your language needs strengthening, and work on ways to express yourself more readily, even when you don't have the perfect words.Every session is shaped around your needs and your goals. The aim is not to eliminate every mistake or make you sound like someone else. It is to help you communicate with greater clarity, confidence, and freedom in English. So that what you know becomes something you can use.
